This tour takes you to the town Hillerød to visit Northern Europe’s biggest and most beautiful renaissance castle, Frederiksborg Castle, also named The National Historic Museum of Denmark. An inside guided visit in this previous Royal residence to explore the treasures of the collections and also the chapel in which anointments of Kings used to take place. Frederiksborg castle is the place where one can get acquainted with Danish history – and art and crafts from the 15th-19th century.
From Hillerød the tour continues through beautiful villages, landscapes and forests to the coastal town Helsingør/Elsinore.
Here we will enter the new Maritime Museum of Denmark, an amazing piece of architecture built underground in the former drydock of the Helsingør Shipyard (Designed by Bjarne Ingels). The exhibition gives a fine impression of life at sea, the trade, the development of shipbuilding during history. From the harbour we’ll get a good view to the medieval fortress, Kronborg, (Hamlet’s castle) and to Sweden, too. From Helsingør we’ll continue along the coast to have lunch at one of our favorite places by the sea,
before visit the world-famous art museum of Louisiana, a museum known for its huge collection of international, modern art created after 1945 – and known for the unique sculpture park facing the seaside.
The guide will give you an introduction to Louisiana and you will get free time to enjoy the collections. If we still have time and energy we’ll go further down South along the coastal road heading towards Dyrehaven, the Deer Park, a huge forest – no doubt the favorite forest of Copenhagen citizens. A stroll – if booked in advance – a relaxed tour through the woods in a horse-drawn carriage. Then we’ll return to the city centre.
